The ten dollar
banknote to the left was the first polymer note ever issued, it was
designed by the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Commonwealth
Scientific and Industrial Research Organization to commemorate
Australia's Bicentenary.
Currently there are twenty one countries producing polymer notes. The
polymer notes were designed to help deter counterfeiting, they offer
more security features that regular paper can offer.
With the advent of polymer notes, it offers the paper money
collectors another unique way to collect banknotes. My wife is very
fond of her polymer banknote collection.
