Silver Eagles
The silver eagle was minted from 1986 through the
present time. Sometimes called silver eagle dollars or American silver eagle
dollars, these coins are 1 troy oz. of fine silver (99.9%). Since their
introduction, they have become one of the more popular coins being collected today.
The newer eagles normally come with a satin like
finish. There are also proofs of these coins, which have a mirror like finish /
surface.
To keep these coin in a good condition, it is
recommended to store them in a cool dry place. Both the obverse and reverse were
designed by Adolph A. Weinman.
The reverse of the silver eagle shows a Heraldic eagle
with a shield, arrows in the left talon, and an olive branch in the right talon.
There are 13 stars above the eagle.
